In 1999 I read a book that really changed my attitude about daytrading, Gary Smith's "Live the Dream By Profitably Day Trading Stock Index Futures."  Quite honestly, that is the best trading book I have ever read.  Since then, I have conducted significant research on the topic, and tested numerous models on TradeStation based on his work.  I also obtained and studied Toby Crabel's work published in Technical Analysis of Stocks and Commodities.  Today, Toby's trading business manages a couple billion dollars in assets.  Although both were focused on daytrading futures, their work easily applies to individual stocks. 

Over time I steered my research toward the stock market due to the sheer volume of opportunity available.  On any given day, SOMETHING is moving significantly in the stock market!  This is not always the case with commodities and futures.  I began to realize that there are many more profit making opportunities in stocks on a daily basis.  However, over time I realized that not many stocks are suitable for daytrading, and on any given day, only a handful of stocks present the best opportunities for profit.   And, even still, these stocks may make you wait for a significant move.  Therefore, I sought to develop simple strategies that would capitalize on these opportunities, once they did finally arise.
